Initial project requirements

Based on the Gold Coast, our client is an Australian company manufacturing high-quality off-road campers.

Having expanded their business into the export market, our client experienced increased demand as their new international clients recognised and appreciated their high-quality product. The company saw the need to renovate their existing factory to cater for this increased demand.

The renovated factory design is fully equipped with everything needed to manufacture the world’s best off-road campers. Flexshield were tasked with designing, manufacturing, and installing 11 new welding bays and seven grinding bays for the new facility.

The solution

The Flexshield team manufactured a range of solutions, including:
  • Sonic Econo 50mm modular acoustic panel
  • Weldflexâ„¢ strip curtains
  • Weldflexâ„¢ mobiles
  • SonicClear PVC curtains

Sonic Econo acoustic modular panels are prefabricated to suit each individual project’s exact application size requirements. The modular tongue and groove style makes them easy to install and cover large areas quickly.

Weldflexâ„¢ welding strip curtains are fabricated from a durable 2mm thick material, which means they won’t easily tear or burn. They are also compliant with Australian Standards AS/NZS 3957:2014.

Mobile Weldflexâ„¢ welding screens have strong galvanised or painted steel construction and heavy-duty castors. The screens’ support feet are angled at 45° at each end, which means they can be easily set at right angles to each other to create a bay or enclosure. The Weldflexâ„¢ mobiles can also create additional ad-hoc welding bays as required.

SonicClear PVC curtains use only the most durable UV resistant and anti-corrosive materials, and the Weldflexâ„¢ component of the bays is Kanga certified.

Used in combination, these products created effective acoustic welding bays. The bays’ design is unique, with windows for supervisor inspections and roofs to reduce the noise in the remainder of the factory.

The results

Flexshield’s installers worked seamlessly with other trades to complete the welding bay install in two phases. The first phase took six days and the second two days.

Our clients’ feedback has been positive, and they look forward to manufacturing their quality campers in the new facility.
