The solution

Several construction companies requested quotes from Flexshield for the improvements at Melbourne Polytechnic. Sherwood Construction Solutions was ultimately awarded the contract. Flexshield and Sherwood Construction Solutions collaborated to provide the optimal solution for Melbourne Polytechnic.

Flexshield’s solution included 4 x bays, each measuring 1625 mm wide x 1865 mm deep x 2150 mm high, with screens in the centre to enable eight bays. The bays featured 50 mm acoustic panels (which were pre-coated with Dulux Grey Nurse finish) for all partitions and the rear walls.

WeldflexTM strip curtains were fitted with gal capping channels to ensure stability and functionality. The strip curtains fully complied with AS/NZS 3957:2014 standards, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. All fixings were supplied in kit form ready to install.

The results

The installation of Flexshield’s sonic welding bay at Melbourne Polytechnic’s Trade Training Centre yielded remarkable results.

The curtains’ acoustic properties, combined with the 50 mm acoustic panel, significantly reduced noise levels, providing an ideal learning and working environment. This improvement in conditions contributed to enhanced productivity while reducing noise levels to help prevent accidents and possible litigation.

Flexshield’s expertise and high-quality solutions helped Melbourne Polytechnic to successfully address its safety, productivity, compliance, and durability needs. They created an environment conducive to effective learning and training, while prioritising the wellbeing of both students and staff. Melbourne Polytechnic now enjoy the added benefit of excellent long-term ROI.
