How Flexshield works with industry-leading businesses
Flexshield has an extensive history working with some of the world’s biggest companies, including Rio Tinto, Alcoa and Hastings Deering.
A world-renowned plant and equipment company, Hastings Deering has over 3,000 employees across 23 business service centres throughout Queensland, the Northern Territory, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and New Caledonia. Their headquarters are in Brisbane, only 1.5 hours away from Flexshield’s own head office in Toowoomba in Queensland.
The alignment of our values has led the two companies to work together on many projects:
Hastings Deering | Flexshield |
No Harm | Initiative and Productivity |
Integrity | Accountability |

Care | Respect and Care |
Controlling noise, dust and fumes with PVC screens
Hastings Deering needed a barrier in a doorway to control the noise, dust and fumes entering their workshop.
Flexshield’s SonicClear PVC screens create instant zones for a variety of purposes, including welding and grinding, segregating processing areas, containing heated or cooled air, preventing cross-contamination, and controlling noise.
Hastings Deering was astounded by the effectiveness of Flexshield’s SonicClear PVC screens. A representative commented, “I would like to tell you that I am very pleased with the strip curtain you supplied. It has far exceeded what I was expecting.”
Creating a highly effective test cell for Hastings Deering
Another project Flexshield and Hastings Deering have worked together on was the design, manufacture and installation of a test cell for their Archerfield precinct.
Our Hastings Deering contacts for the test cell were Workshop Foreman Darren Rossouw and Workshop Manager, Cliff Melvin. Flexshield’s Managing Director, General Manager and Workshop Manager worked closely with Darren and Cliff to design and install the solution.
Once the project was completed in 2009, the Hastings Deering team had to peek through the viewing panels in the front doors to see if test procedures were still progressing, since they could no longer hear the machinery.
In 2010 Flexshield were contacted by Leading Hand Matthew Brown, who was looking for noise control solutions for new transmission test cells. Matthew once again commented on the success of the test cell!
How Flexshield creates custom solutions for your business
When Flexshield works with your business, we endeavour to understand your exact needs, continually communicating with you to establish the best solution for your company. Since no two mine sites, trade training centres or construction sites are the same, we understand the solution we design MUST be unique to your business.
SonicClear PVC screens are ideal for use in mines, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, food production, laboratories, and any other applications requiring zoning or control.
Modular soundproofing panels can be used to create a test cell (like the Hastings Deering project above) or can be combined with our other products to create an enclosure to quieten machinery and protect workers.
