Flexshield’s sonic curtains reduce the risk of noise complaints
As Queensland’s first-ever light rail system, the Gold Coast Light Rail (GCLR) is a significant step forward in transforming the Gold Coast into a modern, accessible city. It’s also the largest transport infrastructure project ever undertaken on the Gold Coast.
Responding to Gold Coast City’s growth, the GCLR is being built in stages with Steps 1 and 2 completed in 2014 and 2017. This world-class public transport system is designed to get more people off roads and move them around the city via a sustainable mode of transport.
Construction company McConnell Dowell was contracted to complete works for part of the GCLR development. They turned to Flexshield to provide a noise control solution for their part of the development.
Temporary industrial noise curtains offer maximum noise reduction
Flexshield provided industrial noise curtains to reduce the amount of noise emitted from the worksite. Hung from temporary fencing enclosing the noise source, the industrial acoustic curtains reduced the risk of complaints from neighbouring residences and retail.
Sonic curtains (also called acoustic curtains) combine sound barrier and noise absorptive products into the one flexible soundproof barrier. This technology provides maximum noise reduction and ensures that manufacturers and construction companies adhere to legal noise limits. Sonic curtains have the option to be used as partial or complete enclosures around noise sources.
Quick and easy installation of sonic curtains
Flexshield sonic curtains are available for hire when needed, and provide temporary noise reduction for industrial, construction or demolition works. Sonic curtains can be used to reduce noise from:
- Construction / demolition works noise
- Earth and roadwork noise
- Compressor noise
- Saws
- Drills
- Generators
- Refurbishments on occupied buildings
Sonic curtains are quick and easy to install and suitable for either short- or long-term applications. These curtains can be hung from temporary site fencing or scaffolding and are fire and weatherproof.
