    2003
    A Quiet Beginning

Flexshield was founded in Toowoomba, Queensland, to tackle real-world industrial noise challenges. The company quickly became known for its robust, Australian-made noise control products.
At the same time, a small group of engineers were imagining a future where silence could be shaped, not just silenced. The idea that would become AcousTech was already forming.

  • Step

    2008
    Louder Demand, Smarter Delivery

Flexshield expanded in-house manufacturing to meet growing demand across Australia. This shift enabled faster customisation, tighter quality control, and the flexibility to solve unique acoustic challenges.
Within the group, the appetite for technical precision and engineered outcomes led to the early formation of what would become AcousTech.

  • Step

    2012
    Engineering with Intent

Collaborations began with materials scientists and acoustic researchers to develop advanced soundproofing technologies. The groundwork was laid for a new kind of acoustic practice, one based not on convention, but on data, performance, and the science of silence.

  • Step

    2015
    AcousTech Officially Launched

AcousTech was formally established as the engineering arm of the Flexshield Group. Where Flexshield handled manufacturing and installation, AcousTech brought advanced assessment, acoustic modelling, and tailored design to complex noise problems, particularly in infrastructure, defence, and large-scale industrial settings.

  • Step

    2017
    Avenue Interior Systems Established

Recognising the growing demand for architectural and interior acoustics, the Flexshield Group launched Avenue Interior Systems, a division focused on noise control within schools, hospitals, offices, and public spaces.
The Group now covered both industrial and interior environments, from factory floors to classrooms.

    2020
    Adaptation Without Comprimise

During a period of industry-wide disruption, AcousTech embraced digital platforms to offer virtual acoustic assessments and remote installation support. Clients across the country continued to benefit from our expertise, without delay. Precision never paused.

  • Step

    2023
Flexshield Group Expansion & collaboration Projects

A new facility was constructed to support ongoing growth. This space showcased Avenue’s innovations, including timber-look Calando panels, black acoustic ceiling tiles, and custom-printed Calando One. Meanwhile, AcousTech and Flexshield delivered major joint projects, including work for the Royal Australian Navy, where engineering precision met field-proven performance.

  • Step

    2024
    Engineering the Future of Infrastructure

Flexshield Group had a landmark year, supporting major Australian infrastructure projects including tunnel construction and environmental compliance initiatives. Flexshield’s engineered acoustic barriers, enclosures, and louvres became key components in high-stakes, high-performance environments.

    2025
    The AcousTech Relaunch

Off the back of a standout year, the decision was made to reposition AcousTech as the project and engineering arm of the Group.
At OzWater’25, AcousTech was reintroduced to the industry, refreshed, rebranded, and ready to lead with sharper science, deeper data, and a renewed commitment to solving Australia’s most complex noise challenges.
