To get a detailed understanding of the customer’s concern and to create the best result, an experienced Flexshield representative conducted site visits which included noise level readings and analyses.

A site visit is mutually beneficial: it gives Flexshield an understanding of how the business operates and what the best solution is and provides our clients with the peace-of-mind that they will get the correct noise control solution.

Flexshield found that the noise was exacerbated due to the lack of absorptive surfaces within the ranges. The ranges were constructed from large core filled blockwork, and being a hard surface was causing serious reverberation.

Flexshield recommended lining the range areas with sound-absorbing materials.

For one range, the team used 50 mm thick high-density lining on both sides of all steel overhead projectile deflectors. This solution was installed from the shooting position all the way to the target area.

In the second range, the team used our versatile Sonic System acoustic modular panel to absorb sound. Filled with rock wool (a sound-absorbing product), the Sonic System modular acoustic panels’ different size perforations of random pitch allow the absorption of varying sound waves and reduce reverberation.

Installed against the existing block work, the 50 mm thick acoustic panels lined both sides of the range. Flexshield also installed a 50 mm thick high-density lining to selected overhead deflectors.
