Initial project requirements
Foresters Restaurant and Bar in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane wanted to convert the roof of an old cinema into a rooftop bar. Yet they discovered they had a noisy problem. The external chiller units and mechanical plant equipment required to support the new restaurant would be located in a new plantroom nearby.
Clearly, Foresters needed a solution that would keep the noise from the plantroom down to an acceptable level for their patrons and neighbours.
Initially, the restaurant’s builder decided to proceed with a different provider for noise control. They soon discovered however that this company simply couldn’t make the acoustic louvres in the tight timeframes that were needed.
Seeking a noise control specialist with the flexibility to respond with a quality solution, Foresters engaged Flexshield to manufacture the plant noise control for their new bar and restaurant.
The solution
Our client provided the acoustic specifications and design, and Flexshield manufactured the acoustic
louvres to meet these requirements. We worked closely with the client to ensure smooth delivery for the principal contractor Icon Co. to achieve their project completion deadline.
Due to the restrictive access to the plant room and venue location, the Flexshield project team needed to use its initiative when installing the acoustic louvres. They had to be packed so that a crane could place them onto the roof where there was only a small laydown area.
To meet this need, Flexshield uniquely packed the product so they could be easily craned off the truck. Since the louvre module location was under an awning that couldn’t be accessed by the crane, a special trolley was also made to wheel the louvre modules into position.
The results
Flexshield were able to deliver the acoustic louvre solution in a tight timeframe. Our installers in particular showed great initiative during the installation to ensure a smooth and efficient result.
