Initial project requirements

Newcrest Lihir Gold Mine, on Lihir Island in Papua New Guinea, had a diesel-powered generator which was creating excessive noise levels. They sought a solution which would not only quieten the generator noise, but would also allow for accessibility to the machinery.

The solution

Flexshield’s acoustic doors were the ideal solution, not only reducing the noise of the diesel-powered generator but also being aesthetically pleasing.

The Flexshield team supplied Newcrest Lihir Gold Mine with RW52 acoustic double doors for the diesel generator room, as well as a single acoustic door with a vision panel and RW45 rating for between the workshop and the office.

The soundproofing was completed with double acoustic door with a rating of RW45 between the workshop and spare parts room.

The results

Flexshield’s Australian-made acoustic doors offered unparalleled noise control for the Lihir Gold Mine. The doors’ construction ensured the highest possible noise control without being thick and bulky – in fact, they are the sleekest industrial-strength doors on the market.
