Initial project requirements
CSR Viridian Glass faced a challenge at their Ingleburn facility. Since both their glass manufacturing and wood processing functions were located in one factory, cross-contamination was proving to be a genuine and constant problem.
They needed to divide their factory floor between the two processes with a solution that would:
- Separate the glass manufacturing area from the wood processing area
- Be a flexible yet durable answer
- Incorporate doorways for emergency exits, and openings for fire hydrants
- Be manufactured from fire-retardant material
CSR Viridian Glass contacted Flexshield for a custom-made solution for their Ingleburn facility.
The solution
After a site visit to assess the processes and applications, and to discuss the project, Flexshield designed, manufactured and installed a tailor-made flexible factory divider wall.
The divider was a perfect solution for Viridian as it could mitigate their project challenges, including the prevention of mould. The floor-to-ceiling wall was 150 metres long, and made from 900gsm fully reinforced and hemmed PVC material.
Flexshield flexible factory dividers control dust, humidity, splash, pests, rodents and contaminants in manufacturing facilities and processing plants. They can be used to create a cleanroom to prevent contaminants from wet or ‘dirty’ areas crossing over and entering a ‘clean’ area.
CSR Viridian Glass’s factory divider wall featured two Velcro rip off doors, two openings for the fire hydrants, and signage for emergency exits. Industrial grade Velcro was used on all joining edges to create a complete seal, and all the components were constructed from anti-corrosive and maintenance-free materials.
The results
The flexible factory divider wall has proven to be a shrewd investment for Viridian. It has proven to be very effective in separating the factory and controlling cross-contamination between the two processing areas.
